ABSTRACT

The previous section explained full-scale concierge practices, but there are other models. Addressing the impatience that many people increasingly seem to have when they are ill or injured, what can be called “concierge lite” models have emerged. These are well-organized groups of physicians, along with advanced practitioners and nurses or medical assistants, who collectively care for panels of patients. The patients identify with the clinic, rather than with one individual physician. A linked computer system allows clinicians to access the patient’s data at any clinic location or via a smartphone or tablet. Multiple clinic sites provide patients with the convenience of different locations, near either their homes or their offices, in addition to remote 24/7 access to the on-call provider via e-mail, telephone, text, or videoconference.
