ABSTRACT

Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) or pattern hair loss is by far the most common form of alopecia in men and women. The development and occurrence of AGA depends on genetic predisposition and an interaction of endocrine factors [1]. Although it is a medically benign condition, it can have a significant psychosocial impact for patients. Hair plays an important role in human social and sexual communication. Patients with visible hair loss are perceived as older and less physically and socially attractive [1–12]. Although AGA can be seen as a physiological process, millions of dollars are spent every year on hair restoration products [13].
