ABSTRACT
Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is a biocompatible, biodegradable, and thermoplastic polyester synthesized from renewable resources. Among the family of biomass-derived biodegradable polymers, PLA has relatively high strength and modulus. The conversion route from lactic acid to poly(lactic acid) is demonstrated in Figure 6.1 [1].
