ABSTRACT
Local Area Networks (LANs) represent a class of networks that are limited in physical size. LANs are generally confined to the size of a campus or a building. They consist largely of computers linked by some physical high speed media for the purpose of sharing resources. As distributed processing has become increasingly popular so have LANs due to their distributed nature.
