ABSTRACT

An impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) system as shown in Figure 3.1 consists of three components with connecting wires. A power supply takes AC electrical power and delivers a low-voltage DC (typically 2 V to 8 V) to an anode system, which is distributed around the structure. This anode distributes and changes the electronic current flow into an ionic current through the concrete and onto the steel reinforcement. Sensors are placed in the structure to provide some measure of the system’s functionality.
