ABSTRACT

As the review of performance management procedures has demonstrated, considerable attention has been given over a long period of time to issues concerning the assessment of individual and organisational quality. However, with the introduction of clinical governance, all NHS organisations will have to review their entire approach towards quality and performance assessment. All performance-related initiatives 1 will have to be documented, and located within an overarching framework which illustrates that an organisation is managing performance and looking to improve quality across the board.
