ABSTRACT
For the private consultant there are essentially three main options as to where to practise privately: in rooms provided in a private or NHS hospital; in ‘dedicated’ consulting rooms; or in a part of his own home. In choosing, the private consultant will consider his own convenience as well as that of his patients. GPs may practise at home, or in a purpose built surgery or in rented rooms (in London private GPs are also able to practise in consulting rooms in private hospitals).
