ABSTRACT

In order to acquire the details of the function of an organic solar cell, it is important to understand a number of important physical parameters (Figure 3.1). From the particular understanding of how the efficiency of an organic solar cell is obtained to the acquisition of parameters such as absorption, exciton diffusion, and charge transfer character, the experimental success of important techniques has driven the conceptualization and construction of new and improved devices. As this field developed, it was determined that the measurement of the accurate efficiency of an organic solar cell device was not a simple task. 1 Thus, guidelines for the determination of the important physical parameters became a standard. In this chapter, we discuss some of the important experimental procedures used to probe the necessary parameters vital to the function of an organic solar cell device.
