Many of the devices which we use in life can be a source of hazard, but the importance or magnitude of this hazard varies widely between devices. A can opener can certainly be a source of hazard in that we may cut ourselves on it or perhaps be electrocuted by it, but nothing dire happens if the opener fails to work. We will simply find another one or decide to eat something else that is not in a can.
