ABSTRACT
The purpose of the present chapter is to discuss a number of questions related to randomization, bootstrap, and Monte Carlo methods to set the stage for the chapters that follow, specifically:
1. How efficient are these methods in comparison with alternative methods, assuming that alternatives exist?
