ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we will deal with matters that are of concern to many people in countries utilizing nuclear power. They represent risks of various types that can lead to less effective isolation of low-level (LLW) and intermediate-level (ILW) radioactive waste than the planners and designers of a repository calculated, or to malfunction of a whole repository with unacceptable consequences. The chapter starts with definitions, continues with quality assurance matters, and ends with safety assessment issues.
