In Chapter 5, I discussed how to plan for and manage software value at the ­strategic, portfolio level. In Chapter 6, I looked at the program or product level of organizing software development to maximize the business value of software. In this chapter, I will discuss how the business value-driven approach at the portfolio and product/program levels can and should positively impact the tactical decisions made by software development teams and individuals at the level where code is written, reviewed, and tested— the team level.
