ABSTRACT

Dual order statistic detection processes have appeared within the signal processing literature in several different clutter model contexts. The idea of such a detection process has been to extend Rohling’s orginal OS‐CFAR process to allow two order statistics of the CRP to provide a measurement of the clutter level. Such an approach, in the case of clutter modelled by a Pareto Type I distribution, has been examined in (Weinberg and Alexopoulos, 2016), and so this is overviewed in this chapter. This complements the development of CFAR decision rules via complete sufficient statistics in chapter 5, since the CFAR detector (5.45) is a special case of a dual order statistic CFAR process.
