ABSTRACT

Let us first consider the plant world, since it is possessed of a very wide range of shapes and structures that are intended for passive use—that is to say that they do not directly move in any way. Plants are far from stationary, however; it’s just that they do not move without some external stimuli (the sun or nutrients in the soil), and most of their movement is strictly through growth patterns or indirect chemical reactions, such as the leaves turning to catch the sunlight.
