ABSTRACT

In this final chapter, we will be looking at what will be required to work together as a world community to effectively deal with the problems of climate change and jointly achieve global sustainability. We will examine past global attempts at working through issues for the good of humanity to see what worked and what did not in an effort to try and understand what we may be facing in the road immediately ahead of us. We will also look at what programs the U.S. government currently has in progress to get us on our way toward a zero-carbon future. Next, we will highlight those cities in the United States and worldwide that have taken measures to cut greenhouse gases (GHGs) and reach toward a zero-carbon balance and applaud their outstanding achievements. In conclusion, we will look at why the final choice is ultimately up to each one of us to decide whether or not to choose a sustainable lifestyle and strive to make a difference in the future.
