The FanGraphs website displays a large number of measures for baseball hitters and pitchers. If one looks at the Batting Leader- board for a specific season, one sees a collection of tables titled “Standard”, “Advanced”, “Batted Ball”, “Win Probability”, “Pitch Type”, “Pitch Value”, “Plate Discipline”, “Value”, and “PITCHf/x”. This chapter explores insights from the Plate Discipline table.
