ABSTRACT
Nowadays, two actions are inadmissible for environmentally and economically sustainable refineries: steam leaks and hydrogen relief to the flare system. The objective of this chapter is to describe the relevance of energy management for the achievement of sustainable and competitive operations in the crude oil refining industry. For this, some strategies to promote energy optimization are presented, allowing lower emission of greenhouse gases and operating costs.
