ABSTRACT
Treatment marshes remove phosphorus (P) from water and store it soils, sediments and vegetation. There is now a significantly long and successful history for numerous systems of many sizes. The size of P removal marshes is typically quite large, thus disappointing those who would hope for large removals in small footprints. The ecological value of such marshes counter-balances the size disadvantage.
