ABSTRACT
This chapter begins by giving a brief overview of why it is important to consider technology/individual interaction factors, and then it introduces some human-related issues in the design, standardization, and integration of maritime equipment. Following that, it considers human responses to technology, before reviewing in more detail the issue of operator situation awareness and technology. Finally, it makes some concluding remarks and comments on further work required in this area.
