ABSTRACT
Motorized equipment considered in this health and safety management system (SMS) element includes all self-propelled vehicles such as cars, pickups, forklift trucks, mobile cranes, and golf carts. Risks associated with motorized equipment should be identified, assessed, and managed as part of the SMS. This is a high risk area in most industries and mines, and consideration should be given to the type of motorized equipment in use, the training of drivers, the use of the equipment, checking of the vehicles, and general operating rules applicable to the type of equipment.
