ABSTRACT
The physical and human phases of the geography of Arizona are diverse, and few generalizations can be drawn about the state as a whole. It is, rather, a state of vivid contrasts-from one region to the next and from one time period to those that follow. Thus, rather than generalizing, it is easier to draw comparisons and contrasts.
