ABSTRACT
Research projects, for example, are notorious for their lack of scope definition. Much of the work is ‘follow your own nose’ or ‘go in a direction which looks fruitful’ or even serendipity (fortunate discovery by accident). The amount of work, the cost of the work, and the time to do this are very open-ended. Research projects are a challenge for anyone used to projects with well defined scope.
