ABSTRACT
It is not the intent of this chapter to provide an exhaustive theoretical treatment of infrared detectors. Rather, it is our intent to focus the discussion on those devices and concepts that are representative of modern technology. For the interested reader, Refs. 1–5 are excellent sources for the detection process, while Refs. 6–10 provide an up-to-date treatment of infrared charge-coupled devices.
