ABSTRACT
In Chapter 13, QTL mapping by single-marker analysis using backcross and F2 progeny types was described. The single-marker analysis has the disadvantages of low statistical power and confounding estimates of QTL effects and locations. Lander and Botstein (1986 and 1989) proposed an interval mapping approach to locate QTLs. A large volume of literature has since accumulated on this topic.
