ABSTRACT

Preoperative requirements before one starts the dermatologic surgery are very important, especially because one is dealing with the surface organ skin that has cosmetic value. Hence, besides the routine of preoperative sterilization and intraoperative and postoperative care, the two most significant aspects—clinical assessment and counseling, and expectations of an ideal dermatologic surgeon—are covered. Two other topics of importance—local anesthesia sensitivity testing and the role of the patient’s accompaniment—are also briefly outlined.
