ABSTRACT

The evolution of dermatologic surgery over the past two decades has been phenomenal. This evolution has been possible due to the understanding and developments in the fields of electromagnetism and studies done to find out their effects on biological tissues. This has led to long strides in better surgical outcomes in the field of dermatologic surgery with progress from the old and gold standards of previous era like the electrocautery and scalpel followed by radiofrequency surgery and lasers of the modern era. In the modern era, dermatologic surgery has gained so much importance due to the cosmetic demands that practitioners from other faculties of medicines like general surgery, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, family practice, and gynecology have taken great interest in this field and are interested to learn the skills from dermatologists. Radiofrequency surgery modality allows any practitioner (dermatologist and nondermatologist) to perform dermatologic surgery with skill to deliver in office the best results with aesthetically pleasing scars.
