ABSTRACT
To start this chapter I would like you to reflect on the most recent assignment or lesson preparation that you have done. Where did you start when you were given a topic to teach or an assignment to write? Does your assignment develop in the same order as your study? Do you shuffle your notes and change their order from the order of your research findings? What happens at each rewrite? Does the order change yet again? These questions might imply that this chapter is about assignment writing or lesson preparation, but it is not. It is about self-directed study or the study route/study journey that you take in order to produce a finished piece of work.
