ABSTRACT

A teacher education professor, who used to teach high school, relates the following story:

I recently ran into Bob, a high school teacher and former colleague of mine. I asked him if he was still teaching at our former high school, the High School of Business and Industry. He told me that he had moved on to another, less well-functioning school in a poor urban neighborhood. “Why?” I asked, “Business High was a great place; you’d be hard pressed to find a better school.”
