ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) is a longtime supporter and participant in Cooperative Education and experiential education Programs. The purpose is to share with readers of this chapter the business application, dissemination, and use of cooperative education research in a business environment. This chapter provides information about the focus and actions taken within IBM in the United States as it transitioned to a more effective operational model and an approach to successful use of cooperative education and internships. The information provided demonstrates the value of co-op to our line management using data we have collected and program enhancements we have implemented.
