ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to propose an agenda of research that will further our understanding of the role that international audio-visual media play in the diffusion of culture. The focus of this book has thus far been solely on television as an entertainment medium regardless of whether the imported content is received by the viewer via traditional broadcast, cable, satellite, and/or videocassette tapes. When planning future studies, researchers ought to consider extending the knowledge presented in this book by applying the model of Susceptibility to Imported Media (SIM) proposed in chapter 9 for investigating the following:
