ABSTRACT
My basic hypothesis is that in a world which is in an extended and deep process of globalization, where countries and regions seem to come closer together and, in the process, strive to maintain their cultural heritage, the role of women (which has always been crucial in all societies as transmitters of values) becomes even more important and may even lead to the building of alternative societies to the economically competitive and technological-oriented ones of the present.
