ABSTRACT

The major purpose of our applied research is to develop various ways to train parents to be effective behavior therapists for their own disturbed children. We apply principles and techniques from the experimental psychology of learning. We assume the behavior of the child is a function of his environment and believe that the person who has the responsibility for the child’s environment is the appropriate change agent. The parents are typically responsible for the child’s environment; therefore, we attempt to give the parents technical information and consultation to help them do their job better.
