ABSTRACT
Growth in the numbers of working women has coincided with significant changes in relationships with men and the nature of domestic partnerships. The period covered by this analysis has seen a large increase in the number of women bringing up children without a male partner; and this second chaper considers some aspects of this and asks to what extent, and in what ways, this is something that many women actually want to be doing.
