ABSTRACT
Located in north-eastern Europe, the Republic of Belarus is a landlocked state bordered by Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. With a gross domestic product exceeding $63 billion, it is currently the world’s 57th largest economy. In recent decades, Belarus has experienced consistent economic growth and the government has set a target of 8% per annum. The UN Human Development Index country score is 0.793, placing it in the top 50 countries in the world. It has a population of roughly 9.5 million people, with a negative replacement rate and declining population.
