ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the challenges faced by non-Indigenous social workers who seek to respectfully engage Indigenous peoples and their communities as allies will be considered from a critical social work perspective. Particular to this discussion, the focus will be on how researchers as co-producers need to engage in processes that acknowledge and right past wrongs by conducting themselves with honesty and integrity. It is hoped that readers will be challenged to think about the roles that they play in upholding truth and the actions they can take to bring about reconciliation.
