ABSTRACT
Part IV of this volume presents 23 specialist reports on the objects and bulk structural materials. The material comes mainly from excavation and fieldwalking but also from shovel-test pitting, test-pits and garden beds, all within the parish of Shapwick. The range of artefacts is wide but focused on Roman, medieval and post-medieval archaeology. In each case the finds specialists were encouraged to consider their material as if it were from one large site, a series of samples at varying levels of intensity from different parts of the same landscape at different points in time, rather than simply a series of disconnected assemblages from diverse sites.
