ABSTRACT
Public-private partnerships have been crucial to Atlanta’s development. Although this approach has been used throughout the United States and around the world, it has been particularly important to Atlanta in achieving civic goals that neither the public nor the private sector could have done alone. Business and government working together for a common purpose has been one of the distinctive aspects of Atlanta’s progress over the years. This relationship has not always been easy or pleasant, and neighborhood groups have sometimes been left out. Nevertheless, Atlanta would not be the great city it is today without the effective use of public-private partnerships.
