ABSTRACT

This chapter examines more recent critical understandings of the use of social media to achieve political mobilisation around identity politics and resistance in the later part of the 2010s in Brazil. Two of the authors of this chapter, Anahi and Marco, are distinguished Brazilian disabled activists-academics from the field of Brazilian disability studies. They had an active role in campaign’s production as influencers. 1 Anahi is a deaf woman and cochlear implant user and Marco is a man with physical disability and wheelchair user. Pamela is a United States of America (USA) disability studies scholar and activist who has been involved in Brazilian disability studies since the 1990s.
