ABSTRACT
Changes in social, economic and spatial structure of urban areas are reflected in and reinforced by considerable changes in the way cities and regions are governed and organized. The debate on the dynamics of these changes is currently focused on the transformation of the traditional forms of government, understood as the formal organizations and procedures of public sector, into governance, understood as the multiplicity of governmental and non-governmental organizations.
