ABSTRACT

Political leaders are iconic in the same way that nationally or internationally known brands are. And that people project a lot of fantasies onto them . . . Of no politicians in the UK has that been more true (truer) than of the Blairs. You only have to replay the footage of their arrival at Number 10 in 1997 to see that nothing really short of adulation was going on . . . they become the best of us in a way that a brand is the best of its class. And they then carry all of our hopes with them.
