ABSTRACT

Global migration patterns are creating an increasingly ethnic, cultural, religious, and linguistically diverse European context, and schools represent a rapidly changing institution where children of diverse backgrounds come together to learn and socialize. This diversity represents both an opportunity to construct a truly pluralistic society and a challenge, given that it is happening within the larger context of increasing conflict between groups, racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and other systems of oppression that affect immigrant youth and families across Europe.
