ABSTRACT

The impact of transmedia on contemporary social change movements and social activism continues to become apparent, and increasingly high-profile community projects have adopted a transmedia strategy. Consciously or unconsciously. Through a series of diverse case studies this chapter examines the ways transmedia has altered our understanding of protest and encouraged historically disaffected and marginalized groups to find their voices. The role of story and immersion are investigated as elements associated with transmedia that also contribute to social change movements.
