ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the writer development of Lone and Daniel, two students in the Higher Preparatory Examination Programme (hf). Both of the students are in their early twenties, they have both been out of school for some years, and they both wish to qualify for higher education. The majority of their fellow students are in a similar situation, yet their class still represents a diverse group of students. So, these two students were young adults who returned to formal education with different work and life experiences, and whose goals were much more specific than those of traditional adolescent upper secondary students. Lone planned to study social science at university and Daniel planned to study physical education at university.
