ABSTRACT
Educational inequalities and oppression are inherent in capitalist and post-colonial societies (Brah and Phoenix 2004; Mirza and Joseph 2012). Through the three themes-diff erence, diversity and inclusion-this book has aimed to examine new insights and widen understanding about the different and complex ways in which educational inequalities are encountered by students and staff employed in schools and higher education institutions in Australia, Europe, Guatemala, New Zealand, the UK and the US. The collection highlights diffi culties and challenges in understanding the dynamics of educational inequalities in schools and higher education experienced in national, international and cross-national contexts.
