ABSTRACT

Italian publishing offers an extremely wide and exciting panorama in all the varied areas of knowledge, with over 20,000 titles published each year by almost 2,000 publishers of varying size and importance. This rapid survey refers above all to publications concerning Italian culture, from a library-science point of view (i.e., taking into consideration only those works which are most likely to be present in libraries outside Italy). Clearly, however, there is only time to discuss a few of the most important works.
