ABSTRACT
Cassell’s (1982) definitions of suffering and personhood are both lucid and provocative. He dissected the nature of "person" and analyzed the dissected parts. I have read his paper many times, wondering what else could be asked about the matter and I wish to make one further extension to his discussion. He spoke of the anatomy of personhood; I wish to speak of its physiology.
