ABSTRACT

Child health encompasses a child’s state of physical, mental, intellectual, social and emotional well-being, not just the absence of disease or infi rmity in a child. Healthy children live in families, environments and communities that provide them with the opportunity to reach their fullest developmental potential [1]. Good health in childhood builds a strong foundation for health and well-being in adulthood. Ensuring healthy growth and development of children and adolescents should be an important public health priority globally and in Asia. Child health can be optimized by developing policies to promote health, prevent disease and foster equity for children and young people within a framework of sustainable development [2].
