ABSTRACT
This chapter will cover topics related to the challenges individuals with ASD have that are related to developing social interaction skills and evidence-based practices for becoming socially competent. The chapter will begin with social-communicative difficulties described by the DSM-5 Diagnostic Criteria. Then, essential social skills and evidencebased teaching methods will be presented to develop social interaction competencies.
