ABSTRACT
My comments on the chapters and discussion of the Conference are divided into three parts, organized as follows: (1) my own views on perception and how it develops; (2) comments on the three chapters I was invited to review specifically; and (3) a more general comment on views expressed by more than one participant and the way I would characterize the conference as a whole. A brief statement of my views on perception and how it develops is essential because they differ considerably from all of those expressed in the conference; what I have to say about the chapters can only be understood in the light of them.
