Outpatient Programs from the Training Point of View: Geriatric Dentistry Training at Columbia University

For the purposes of this presentation, geriatric dentistry refers to that portion of the pre-doctoral educational curriculum teaching management of the older dental patient. The word geriatric has no specific age assignment; rather, it refers to a time when “social, psychological or biological changes associated with aging impair the full and adequate function of the individual” (American Association of Dental Education).
